Good civil protection practices: the submission deadline is April 30

Last February, the Civil Protection Department launched the first collection of good civil protection practices with the aim of collecting, systematizing and monitoring the experiences of the National Service that can, indeed, be considered “good practices” with a view to improving the system.

This first collection focuses on the Italian Warning System for hydrogeological and hydraulic risks. It aims to gather exemplary experiences in predicting and managing events related to these risks, such as floods and landslides, which are unfortunately very common in our country.

The submission deadline for proposing a good practice is April 30, 2025. You must complete a digital form by registering and accessing the platform using this link.

Best practices may address one or more of the following intervention themes:

  1. Adjusting procedures for entities within the Warning System to maintain service continuity for citizens
  2. Communication, information and awareness activities on alerts
  3. Communication and information activities to citizens during emergencies
  4. Connection between early warning and early action and organizational solutions for alert management
  5. Strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the actions taken by the Functional Centres
  6. Organization of the local garrison
  7. Certification methodologies for processes and operational procedures associated with the warning system, as adopted by the Regions and Functional Centres
  8. Assessment methods for the effectiveness of alerts
  9. Optimization of relationships between Functional Centres, regional operations rooms and territorial operations rooms

Please note that for a practice to be considered, it must have been implemented by at least one National Service entity and successfully applied or tested in practical settings. Otherwise, the platform cannot acquire it.
