Snowliage tends to occur in higher elevations when an early snowfall arrives when deciduous trees have not dropped fall foliage. Snowliage can be observed in geographic regions where the climate allows for an overlap between the end of the fall foliage season and the beginning of snowfall.
In California, places like Mammoth and Yosemite are places known for their likelihood of snowliage happening as early winter storms, especially in November, are a frequent occurrence. With its deciduous and coniferous trees species, as well as a range of elevations, Yosemite’s geography and climate provide conditions that are ripe for a dusting of snow across fall leaves.

- Northeastern United States: This region, especially New England states like Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, is famous for its vibrant fall foliage. The timing of the first snowfalls here can sometimes coincide with the tail end of the autumn leaf-peeping season, typically in October or early November.
